Received his Ph.D. from the Department of Biochemistry at McGill University. His thesis work focused on applying biophysical techniques, including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, to elucidate the 3D-structure of proteins. For his post-doctoral work, he joined the Institute for Research in Cancer and Immunology (IRIC) at the Université de Montréal to study mechanisms of mRNA export in cancer and x-ray crystallography as a visiting scientist at the University of Toronto studying. He is currently a senior research scientist at McGill University and his research focus is in protein synthesis and mRNA metabolism in cancer and metabolic processes. Dr Siddiqui is also interested in researching alternative delivery systems to increase the efficacy of cannabinoids for treating various ailments. He has numerous accredited professional development certificates focusing on applying cannabinoids in clinical practice, industrial scale production of medical cannabis, CO2-SFE extraction, quality control, and formulation of medical cannabis derivatives. He currently sits on the scientific advisory boards of multiple applicants and cannabis licensed producers in Canada.
